The Westport Public Schools is currently undergoing an equity study in partnership with New York University’s Metropolitan Center for Research on Equity and the Transformation of School - Innovation in Equity and Systemic Change.
The Westport Equity Study states: NYU’s role, in conjunction with the Lead Learner Team, will “be comprised of three strands of work: root cause analysis, data collection, and a root cause report along with the co-creation of a systemic multi-year action plan to address equitable outcomes.”
Anthony Buono, Ph.D. Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, said that here may be opportunities for us to consider modifications to curriculum based on the results of the equity study. When asked about the book “How to be an Antiracist” by Ibram X. Kendi, he said it's been read and possibly discussed by BOE members.
